Symbolic Representation

This face of this card shows an Angel, up in the sky, blowing a trumpet. Open graves can also be seen with people rising from them.

Tarot Story

Leaving the garden, the flowers and the Sun behind, the Fool now feels that he has finally reached the end of his journey. But he is still in doubt. He knows that all he needs to get started again is this moment, now. Now is the time when he will start anew. But something is still keeping him hesitant from doing so. And just to be reassured that he is on the right path, he looks up in the sky for the Sun's light, but what he sees instead of the Sun is an angel, stunning yet horrifying.

"You are not wrong when you feel that you have come to the end of your journey," the Angelic figure tells the Fool, "You really do have only one last step on your journey." She continues to say , "But you can't take that step until you lay your past to rest." The Fool is nervous now. "But, I have left it all behind" he answered. "You can never leave your past behind," says the Angel. "All you can do is call it up and come to terms with it."

The Angel then hands over a small trumpet to the Fool, leaving the final decision in his hands. He can either go forward, or stay where he is. He, eventually with all his courage, blows the trumpet and its music reverberates across the sky. Its sensations split open the surface of the Earth, from where in, all the memories rise. All the memories, of youth, tests, love, trials, failures, losses and victory come to surface.

For the first time in his life, the Fool does not try to overlook or forget them, but admits making them. As he can now see that they are nothing to be afraid off. They are over now and in the past. And suddenly he feels that the memories start to vanish. Though in his mind, they no longer have any control over him. He is free now. Free to reborn and live entirely in his present.

Tarot Connotation

With Pluto as its ruling planet, the Judgment card is all about a new beginning and renaissance. The mythological story about the Judgment day is that the dead arise from their coffins and their sins are forgiven, allowing them to move onto heaven.

Similarly, there are always hurts from the past that never cure, sins which we committed yet never refuse to forgive and forget, vices we don't have the daring to drop. Judgment day card advises the Seeker to finally realize that the past is what went before, come face to face with them and put them to rest, completely and permanently. This is card also signifies great changes, rebirth, and healing from the past.

Judgment is often also a card about making a final decisions and taking a plunge into something new. To heal and renew from the past. It also means to face what most of us don't want to or are avoiding facing. You can't hide any longer, says the card. Face what you have to face, make that decision that will change your life and reform it all together.
