Tarot Story

Skillful and confident, the Magician is a powerful clairvoyant with an infinity floating as a halo above his head. According to the Tarot story, the Fool meets the Magician on his way and is fascinated by him. The Magician asks the Fool to hand over his bundled pack and stick to him, and the Fool does just that.

Lifting his hand with a wand to heaven and pointing at Earth from the finger of his other hand, the Magician invites all the powers, and miraculously, the bundle opens up on the table, revealing all its contents. The Fool believes it to be the magic of the Magician's words. He can clearly see now, the potentials and possibilities lying in front of him, and the use he can make out of them. Be it the calm, open Sword of intelligence and communication or the sizzling Wand of divinity and desires; the brimming Chalice of Love and affections or the firm Pentacle of labor, assets and body, he can take up in any direction and go on to explore. With these options by his side, the Fool can make anything of his life.

Tarot Connotation

The Magician card carries the number 1, and is the male power of creation, by determination and aspiration. This can be said keeping in mind the fact that the Magician is symbolized by Mercury. He signifies the talent of being a smooth talker.

He's one of the most familiar cards and the most favorite too. When the reader believes that the Magician is representing the seeker, then the seeker either is, or is currently feeling powerful and enigmatic. He has it all, from being clever to witty, inventive and persuasive. People listen and agree with him and there are chances of him being or becoming a doctor or scientist or an inventor.

The positive side to the Magician card is that it signifies expertise of creative action, willpower and an enthusiasm to take risks, along with having the ability of communication and intelligence.

The negative facet to this card can be the hesitation and sometimes the lack of ability to make crucial choices.  Also, at times, the inability to utilize opportunities or talents properly is a key depiction of the card.  Lack of motivation or vigor along with poor self image and sometimes learning difficulties too.
