THE TOWER

Symbolic Representation

The pictorial representation of this card shows a tower on a rocky ledge. A powerful bolt of lightning can be seen falling on the tower, with one or two figures falling or jumping out of it. A cloudy sky can also be seen.

Tarot Story

Leaving the reign of the Goat God behind, as the Fool travels further, he comes across a splendid, but familiar Tower. Indeed he remembers it, because he is the one who helped build this Tower back at the time when he was busy proving himself to the world and better than others like him.

At the top of this tower, still reside a few supercilious men, convinced of their mightiness and power.

Seeing the Tower again, the Fool realizes that although he thought that he had left his old self behind and only then had he started on his spiritual voyage, he now knows that he hasn't. He can still see himself standing like the Tower, alone, outstanding and higher, while he is none of those now. He is shocked to acknowledge the fact now, and is upset too. And just when he thought this was the worst, he got even more shocked to see a sudden bolt of lightning slashing down from the sky, hitting the Tower as all its occupants jump out.

And within a second, it's all over. The Tower is no more and all that remains are the ruins and rocks. Stunned by what just happened, the Fool undergoes profound sorrow, fear and deception together. But at the same time, he also experiences a bizarre revelation, as if he can now finally see what he couldn't earlier. He has now achieved what was the hardest of all his targets by exploring absolute truth and destroying all the lies that he had held close to himself. And it is now that he can start anew, rebuilding his soul.

Tarot Connotation

The Tower card has Mars as its ruling planet, and is all about war between lies and truth of life. The Tower here stands for fake notions and relations, which the Seeker is taking for real. This card warns the Seeker of the forthcoming jolt as they were blinded till now by an appalling revelation. Bringing down the beliefs that were well constructed, is often painful, but the Seeker should also remember that only when they will let go of the lies and falsehood, can they built a room for something new to be built.

This card alerts the Seeker about the false arrangements, false relationships and false beliefs which are going to get exposed suddenly to them. So if they believe that everything around them is just fine and working perfectly, its time they open their eyes and see again.

Unfortunately, they're about experience a crude awakening. And always remember, whatever happens is for the best as nothing based on lies could work for long.
